Last December, I tried using my Facebook account to garner support for this project. It was a failure. I'm not one for giving up, so here I go again.
Military records for the direct relatives of a veteran (parents, siblings, spouse, children) are free until they are archived. After that, you have to pay for them. I try to post the military records that I find or pay for online at my family tree.
I'm doing my best to make sure that future generations don't have to go through the expense of paying for originals if there is someone in the family that already has the access to the documents.
With that in mind, I'm hoping that this project is one that people will take some interest in.
Think of this as a wish list. If there is a military personnel record that you wish to obtain for someone on our family tree, please send me their information and I will post it here. Give as much information about the men and women as possible. To clarify, when I say, "Military Records," I mean complete MILITARY PERSONNEL RECORDS, not just indexes. Although, the indexes will come in handy if you are searching for their full records.
When requesting personnel records, be sure to ask for all of the records you are entitled to by law.
After you're done submitting your wishlist, please take a look at the wish lists of other family members. If you already have the records they're asking for, or are interested in obtaining them, please contact us.
I will start this project off with the records I wish I had and those that I that I have (that I can remember off the top of my head). I will add more as I go through my files.
Thank you, in advance, for your time and cooperation.
